Aqua Shoes
I get this question asked about water shoes: Do I need to wear shoes when I am in an aqua class?
Yes
If we think about this, we are working out on the concrete in the pool. Would we run barefoot? As a kid, I did do everything barefoot but not now. Choosing a proper shoe can help to protect you against common injuries associated with your type of workout. We can stub our toes etc.
I was getting shin splints when I first was doing aqua. We are taught to wear Good shoes so they can lessen the impact of our steps and cushion the foot from heavy landings even if in the pool. Once I started wearing shoes it helped so much with the shin splints.
I started with the lighter shoe and it felt really good. I have now gone to a thicker sole when I do more running and jumping. The kind of sole you need depends on how much activity you do. If you are walking or in deep water, the thinner sole is good for you. If you do a lot of running and jumping then you need a thicker sole like when you run outside of the pool. As you can see in the picture I have both the thinner and thicker sole. I actually teach in the thicker one and then can go straight into the pool. I use the thinner sole when I do deep or if I am going to walk and do a lighter workout. I also have worn water sandals as long as shoes.
Here are some links for the thinner and then thicker shoes. Like I said above the sole is important and then the fit. We all have different feet with some narrow while others are wide. We also have so many different sizes. I have a small wide foot so sometimes I wear kids' shoes. I have worn shoes and also water sandals so it depends on what you like. Oh, the links are from Amazon because it is easy. Remember you can order several to try and then easily return the ones that didn't work.
